New Venue: The Holiday Inn at Yorkdale

The feedback that the conference committee received last year (post-conference) included several positive notes about the strengths of conference. We were excited to see that people felt the atmosphere to be engaging, inviting, and friendly. This was due to the fantastic moderators, the hospitable team at Black Creek Pioneer Village, the attention to detail given during the planning period, and of course lots of food and coffee.

When searching for a venue for this year’s conference, we wanted to choose a location that played to the strengths that were praised in the past, but also improve where we could do so.

The Holiday Inn at Yorkdale was considered as a front runner as a possible location because of it’s easy access from the TTC as well as the airport. Choosing a hotel as a conference venue would also allow for out of town guests to stay in the exact location of the conference.

The Holiday Inn has been very flexible and friendly with the Conference Planning Committee, ensuring that the conference will yet again be able to have an atmosphere that will reflect our goals to intentionally host another conference with wholesome and productive engagement amongst graduate students (sprinkled with delicious food and caffeinated beverages).

We look forward to panelists and participants coming together to discuss “Death” and related topics at this new venue.
